Explanation of Technical Indexes and Designations in PATON Welding Machine Model Names

To simplify the selection of welding equipment, PATON uses a system of letter and numeric designations in model names. They allow quick identification of the machine series, technical characteristics, power supply type, design features, and package configuration.

Below is an explanation of the main indexes and designations used in the names of PATON welding machines.

Example of Model Name Decoding

(a key element for quickly understanding the characteristics)

PATON ProMIG-350-15-4-400V-WAM

  • ProMIG — machine series
  • 350 — rated welding current, A
  • 15 — supports a wire spool up to 15 kg
  • 4 — four-roll wire feed mechanism
  • 400V — powered by a three-phase 400 V supply
  • WAM — package type

This format allows the key technical parameters of the machine to be understood directly from its model name.

Package Configuration Indexes

WA (Without Accessories)
Package without accessories.
The welding machine is supplied without welding cables or torches. An optimal option for users who already have the necessary accessories or want to select them according to their specific work requirements.

BW (Black Wolf)
Package with a Black Wolf brand torch.
Includes a Black Wolf welding torch that offers an optimal price–quality ratio.

MT (MMA & TIG)
Package for MMA and TIG welding.
Includes a TIG torch, an electrode holder cable, and a work clamp cable (ground cable), making the machine ready for MMA and TIG operation immediately after connection.

WAM (Without Accessories + Mass)
Package without welding accessories, but with a work clamp cable (ground cable).
An optimal option for users who already have a welding torch or plan to purchase one separately according to their needs.

WM (Welding MMA)
Package for MMA welding in semi-automatic and multifunctional MultiPRO machines.
Includes only an electrode holder cable and a work clamp cable (ground cable), without a welding torch. Suitable for users who already have a torch or wish to select one individually.

WK (Welding Kit)
Extended welding kit.
Includes: a welding machine with the W index (support for liquid-cooled torches), a work clamp cable (ground cable), a welding trolley, and an автономous liquid cooling unit.

Technical Indexes and Designations in Model Names

–5-2
The first digit indicates a bracket for steel wire up to 5 kg (200 mm diameter spool).
The second digit indicates a two-roll wire feed mechanism.
Suitable for compact semi-automatic welders and standard welding tasks.

–15-2
The first digit indicates a bracket for steel wire up to 15 kg (300 mm diameter spool).
The second digit indicates a two-roll wire feed mechanism.
Suitable for professional welding and most typical tasks.

–15-4
The first digit indicates a bracket for steel wire up to 15 kg (300 mm diameter spool).
The second digit indicates a four-roll wire feed mechanism.
Provides more stable and precise wire feeding, especially when using long torches up to 5 m and when welding aluminum.

–400V
Three-phase power supply.
The machine is designed to operate from a 400 V three-phase electrical network.

–SF (Separate Feeder)
Separate wire feeder unit.
The wire feed unit is designed as a separate module, increasing flexibility and convenience in industrial environments.

–W
Liquid cooling for torches.
The machine supports operation with liquid-cooled torches, which is necessary for high currents and long duty cycles.

–MAXwire
Reinforced wire feeding system.
The machine is equipped with a metal four-roll wire feed mechanism and a more powerful sealed motor. Ensures stable and precise feeding of solid and flux-cored wire even in demanding production conditions and when working with long torches.
