Welder MIG/MAG MMA/TIG Lift Paton ProMIG-270 (15-4) 400V

Welder Paton ProMIG 270 15-4 400V – basic information

The Paton ProMIG 270 15-4 400V welder is designed for semi-automatic MIG/MAG welding with shielding gases and protective mixtures, manual arc MMA welding and argon shielded TIG welding with direct current.

The design of the ProMIG 270 15-4 (15 kg spool, also capable of handling a 5 kg spool – 4 roller feeder) provides some of the best protection against external influences on the market. This model’s rated current of 270A at a duty cycle of 70% is the result, allowing intensive welding of 6 mm materials without the risk of overheating. The power source can be separated from the welding wire feed mechanism for ease of use and safety. Characteristic features of PATON™ Professional Series semi-automatic welding machines are the high-quality sealed metallic wire feeder, as well as the existing KZ-2 “EURO” type connector, which has become a standard worldwide, allowing the user to change the handle at will in the future.

In a completely electronic system, the control system has absolutely all the resources of the source, within the limits of its full power and regardless of what method is used. The “Professional” series device is intended for industrial use, for the most demanding users.

Functions and features of the Paton ProMIG 270 15-4 400V welder

All PATON machines are adapted for welding with self-shielding wire. Such welding, as opposed to the traditional MIG/MAG welding process, is carried out without the use of shielding gas – however, this requires special welding wire. The wire produces its own shielding which helps to protect the welding arc. Self-shielded wire suitable for PATON welding machines can be purchased here – 5kg spools of wire will fit all wire feeders.

Paton MIG/MAG welders of the Standard and PRO series have the possibility of brazing thanks to the function of changing the inductance in three steps. The inductance control allows the arc characteristics to be optimised according to the thickness of the component to be welded. This function is necessary to change the speed of the current flow when changing the arc voltage. The thinner the component to be welded using MIG/MAG, the higher the inductance should be (soft arc – less fusion), for thicker components the opposite (hard arc – more fusion).

– PULSE in TIG welding – full control of heat entering the material – a great feature for welding stainless steel and acid-resistant steel,

– PULSE in MMA – easier transfer of material from electrode to weld pool, better quality of welded joint,

– PULSE in MIG/MAG welding – easier detachment of metal droplets from the end of electrode wire, possibility of pulse current adjustment. MIG welding with pulse is useful for welding stainless steel, acid-resistant steel and aluminium alloys. In addition, pulse welding provides better parameters for soldering CuSi3

  • duty cycle – PRO series MIG/MAG welders have a 70% duty cycle, while the Standard series has a 45% cycle at the same welding current. In addition, MIG/MAG welding machines in the PRO series achieve a continuous duty cycle at a higher welding current than the standard series.
  • Wire feeder – in the PRO series there is a separate wire feeder that handles reels from 15 to 18 kilo. The feeder can be separated from the source for convenience in welding other methods – such as MMA or TIG DC. The PRO series also has 2 roll or 4 roll wire feeder versions. In the MIG/MAG welding machines of the Standard series, the wire feeder is built into the welder, only supports spools up to 5 kilo and always has two rolls.

Compared to inverter welders from other manufacturers, this product was invented by the designers of the Pilot Plant of Welding Equipment of the Electric Welding Institute named after E. O. Paton, has the following advantages:

  • Wide range of adjustment of welding parameters:
    – MMA method – 1 (basic) + 10 (additional)
    – TIG method – 1 (basic) + 10 (additional)
    – MIG/MAG method – 2 (basic) + 8 (additional)
  • Pulsed current welding function, which is additionally programmable – in all welding modes;
  • The welding unit is protected against long-time fluctuations of power supply voltage and ensures welding arc stabilization when the input voltage of the unit changes in the range of 320 V through 440 V.
  • Adapted to the standard power network. Thanks to high efficiency, the source provides twice the electricity demand compared to traditional sources;
  • Automatic adjustment of the fan speed, which works with higher efficiency when the unit is warmed up, and reduces the speed when the unit is not in use. This affects fan wear, reduces the amount of dust in the unit and reduces welding noise.
  • Comfortable operation related to loading the device with the nominal current, without the need for cooling intervals at 25 °C.
  • High reliability of the device in dusty and highly dusty production conditions humidity.
  • Increased durability thanks to impregnation of the electronic system with two layers of high quality lacquer, which ensures the reliability of the product during its entire life.
  • The welding machine is equipped with an electronic thermal protection system which protects all elements generating heat of the welding unit from overheating.
  • Improved stability of the electric arc glow.
  • Continuous adjustment of welding parameters.
  • Efficiency through the use of the latest advanced IGBT technology.
